What do I need to know? A Letter to Brides Before Booking their Wedding Hair & Makeup

Hello gorgeous! Congratulations! That time has come; you are booking your glam team for your dream day.

As a bride, the options can be overwhelming. As an industry professional, it is my goal to make things as simple as possible for you. Keep reading to learn more about what kind of bride you are, and what hair and makeup choices are best for your Big Day!

1. Understanding Your Choices

Consider key decisions: Airbrush or conventional? Preview or not? Extensions? Wedding day schedule? Solo stylist or team? Simplify your choices by consulting an experienced professional or established company for assistance.

A recent bride's story illustrates the value of working with a professional team. She booked a vendor with a $7 deposit based on distance. As her wedding neared, communication vanished, and she discovered a calendar glitch leading to a double booking. She sought reliability and found Effortless Beauty.

The lesson: Quality matters.

You're investing in more than just day-of-wedding glam. It's peace of mind, clear communication, tailored advice, and skilled, hygienic execution that truly matter when choosing Effortless Beauty or reputable brands.

2. Know Your Style (and what style your vendor provides)

Welcome to the South! - or as I like to call it - Dolly Parton Land. Big hair, bright lipstick, and caked-on foundation can still be the norm "round these parts".

Not to say I don't love a 'full glam' look, but it's important to find a timeless look that feels like you for your wedding day. That’s why one of the very first steps in our booking process is to ask for your wedding Pinterest board to make sure our styles are the perfect fit for one another.

Our main mission when doing your makeup is to make you feel comfortable, confident, and like the very best version of yourself.

We recommend looking through our website and Instagram to check and see if our styles might align.

If you're not quite sure what styles you want on your wedding day, not to worry! - We recommend you schedule a Bridal Preview to talk through and try out the look you think you might want to go for on your wedding day. We will also send out a questionnaire prior to services with us to figure out what’s most important to you.

3. Understand the Professional Standards

Throughout my years in the industry, I've had the privilege of collaborating with a diverse range of stylists. Here, I'd like to share some critical insights for both fellow stylists and brides seeking the ideal team.

**1. Dress the Part:** No matter how early the call time, it's essential for stylists to maintain a professional appearance. As stylists, we understand that we are about to play a pivotal role on a bride's most important day. How we present ourselves matters greatly, setting the tone for the entire experience.

**2. Sanitation is Not an Option:** I recall an incident from April 2023 when I had my makeup done at one of America's most renowned salons. The artist proudly mentioned her regular work with famous sports wives, and her enthusiasm was contagious. However, she overlooked a critical aspect—sanitation. The artist unknowingly "double-dipped" her products during the application, and the next day, I woke up with a sty in my eye. This experience serves as a stark reminder that cost does not always reflect quality.

At Effortless Beauty, we live by the Golden Rule. Everything we use and do for our clients mirrors the standards we would expect for ourselves. We prioritize hygiene and professionalism, ensuring a flawless and safe beauty experience on your special day.

4. A Brides Timeline is FINAL

A bride, her photographer, and her planner, if she has one, put HOURS into creating the perfect timeline for her perfect day. It is imperative that stylists keep this timeline in mind and follow it as closely as possible. If not, the stylist's lateness can throw the entire day off.

At Effortless Beauty, we create customized timelines hand in hand with your planner to ensure that we are doing everything we can to make sure you have the best possible wedding day.

5. A Good Consultation is Everything

One thing that I believe every bride could agree on is that they would like their makeup to look "natural". Where the problem can sometimes lie is in what your definition of “natural” is. To some, that means looking like Kim Kardashian, while to others, it means a bit of mascara and tinted moisturizer. Finding out your true preferences and what beauty means to you is all in the consultation.

If you opt for a trial run, maximize its benefits. Bring reference photos, communicate your likes and dislikes, and wear a white shirt similar to your wedding dress to get a better idea of the overall look.
